Swedish Citizen Arrested by Iran Confirmed

Iran has confirmed the arrest of a Swedish citizen, Johan Floderus, accusing him of committing crimes in the country. Floderus, who works for the European Union, has been held captive for over 500 days. Iran has a history of imprisoning foreigners on charges of espionage or national security violations. The Swedish Foreign Ministry has called for Floderus' immediate release, stating that he is arbitrarily detained. This comes amid ongoing negotiations between Iran and Western governments, including the transfer of five American citizens into house arrest in exchange for the release of frozen Iranian assets.
