US Launches New Strikes on Iran-Linked Sites in Syria

The United States has conducted strikes on two Iran-linked sites in Syria in response to attacks on American forces. This marks the third time in less than three weeks that the US military has targeted locations in Syria connected to Iran. The strikes were aimed at deterring further attacks on US personnel in Iraq and Syria, which have increased following the Israel-Hamas conflict. The US claims there have been over 45 attacks on its troops in the region since October 17, resulting in dozens of injuries. The US has approximately 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria as part of efforts to prevent the resurgence of the Islamic State group.
