Vatican envoy pledges to safeguard children's lives in Ukraine.

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Pope Francis' peace envoy to Ukraine, has reiterated support for Ukraine and emphasized that the war is a step backwards that destroys everything and makes children suffer. He noted that the church will do everything possible to protect the lives of children. Ukraine was able to return 371 children from among those who were illegally deported by Russia during the war. Both parties also discussed the exchange of prisoners of war and the deportation of Ukrainian children.
