Zelenskyy and Xi hold phone call amid Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a "long and meaningful" phone call, during which Xi pressed his position as a neutral peacemaker in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Xi appealed for negotiations and warned against nuclear war. China will send a representative to Ukraine for talks about a possible political settlement. The White House called the direct communication between Xi and Zelenskyy "a good thing." Ukraine launched a digital effort called Brave1 to aid the war effort. Zelenskyy marked the 37th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster by warning that Russia could fuel another nuclear catastrophe with military attacks near the plants.
