A Soviet-era dam in southern Ukraine was blown up, causing a flood of water across the war zone. Both Ukrainian and Russian forces blamed each other for the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, which was built in 1956 and holds an 18 km3 reservoir supplying water to the Crimean peninsula and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
