Macron's Visit to Israel: Focus on Hostage Release in Gaza War

French President Emmanuel Macron visited Israel and emphasized that the release of all hostages from Hamas captivity should be the primary objective of Israel's Gaza operations. Macron held meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Two elderly hostages were released from Hamas captivity and airlifted to an Israeli hospital to be reunited with their families. The death toll in Gaza rose to 5,087, and the number of hostages taken by Hamas increased to 222. Israeli airstrikes across Gaza killed 140 people.
