Norway Leads Viking-Style Training of Ukrainian Troops in Poland

Norway is spearheading Operation Legio, a multinational effort to train Ukrainian soldiers at Camp Jomsborg in Poland, combining Ukrainians’ battlefield experience with NATO practices. The Telemark Battalion emphasizes both combat skills and a Viking-inspired warrior mindset to boost lethality and resilience under harsh conditions, with Ukrainian instructors co-leading and training plans updated based on Ukrainian needs. The program, supported by 11 nations, aims to prepare Ukrainians for front-line combat to defend their country and negotiate from a position of greater strength.
