A powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the southern Philippines, triggering widespread panic and a tsunami warning. One person was killed and several others injured as thousands fled their homes and jammed roads to higher ground. The tsunami warning was later dropped, but subsequent earthquakes were recorded.
