Israel's 75th Independence Day overshadowed by internal divisions and exclusion of Palestinians.

Bipartisan US lawmakers are set to introduce a resolution honoring the 75th anniversary of Israel’s founding on Tuesday which excludes language on the Palestinians or the two-state solution. The resolution reflects Israel’s role as a wedge between the Republican and Democratic parties as well as Republicans’ effective disavowal of a two-state solution. The legislation flies in the face of the Biden administration’s concerted efforts to build on Israel’s regional integration while maintaining that such efforts are not a bypass toward peace efforts with the Palestinians but a tool to better improve relations.
