Nationwide Protests Erupt in India Over Suspension of Lawmakers

Opposition leaders in India have launched nationwide protests against the suspension of 146 MPs from Parliament during the Winter Session. The MPs, who are part of the INDIA bloc, were suspended for demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding a security breach in December. The opposition MPs held banners and placards at the protest, calling for the protection of democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition parties of providing indirect support to the security breach and giving a political spin to the incident. The suspended MPs have been barred from entering Parliament until the end of the Winter Session.
