Navigating the Complexities of the Ukraine-Russia Conflict

NATO allies and Ukraine need to develop a blueprint for engaging with Russia after the war in Ukraine ends. While anger and hostility towards Russia are justifiable, ostracism is not a judicious prescription for relations with such a large and important country. Instead, the better strategy is to induce Putin (or his successor) to negotiate a tolerable resolution and provide clear benefits for doing so. This would include a return to global commerce, an end to sanctions, and treatment as the global power that it is.
