Sweden Approves NATO Membership

Swedish lawmakers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the country joining NATO, with six of the eight parties represented in parliament in favour of membership. The vote was seen as a formality, with the required legislation also being signed off. The move was described as "a historical event" and "one of the most important security policy decisions ever for our country." However, two NATO countries, Turkey and Hungary, have yet to ratify the Nordic nations' joint application.
