"US Homeland Security: Adapting to Evolving Threats in 2023"

The head of the US Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, has identified migration, artificial intelligence, China, climate change, and domestic extremism as the top security threats facing the country. Mayorkas also announced the creation of the department's first AI task force to enhance supply chain integrity, screen cargo for products made through forced labor, and detect the shipment of fentanyl and chemicals used to make the drug. He also emphasized China's government as posing an especially grave threat to the homeland and announced a 90-day department-wide sprint to assess how the threats posed by China will evolve.
