Caribbean Braces for Dangerous Tropical Disturbance

Potential Tropical Cyclone 22 is bringing dangerous heavy rains to the central and southwestern Caribbean, with particular concern for southwestern Haiti. While its chances of developing into a tropical depression have decreased, the system is expected to dump four to eight inches of rain, with isolated amounts of up to 16 inches, increasing the potential for deadly flash flooding. The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season has seen a low death toll so far, but South Florida recently experienced torrential rains and strong winds associated with a non-tropical storm system.
