Australian man charged with murder after Thai teen’s suitcase death

In Pattaya, Thailand, police say a 17-year-old Thai girl was murdered after meeting a foreign man; her naked body was found stuffed in a suitcase dumped near a railway track by the beachfront. Australian Simon Peter Carman has been charged with intentional murder, concealing a corpse, moving or destroying a corpse, and abducting a minor for indecent purposes, and he was arrested at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport as he tried to fly out of the country. If convicted, he could face 15-20 years in jail, life imprisonment, or the death penalty. Investigators say he confessed to strangling her after an argument; autopsy results are pending.
