US Military Targets Iran-Backed Militias in Syria Retaliation

U.S. forces conducted nine strikes on Iranian proxy targets in Syria in response to recent attacks on American personnel, according to U.S. Central Command. The strikes aim to degrade the capabilities of Iranian-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks on U.S. and Coalition forces involved in D-ISIS operations. This action follows increased attacks on U.S. troops in the region since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in October 2023. Approximately 900 U.S. forces are currently operating in Syria, with the military presence recently bolstered.
