Tharp Smashes 110m Hurdles World Record at NCAA Championships Heats
Ja'Kobe Tharp, a 20-year-old hurdler from Auburn, clocked 12.75 seconds in the 110m hurdles heats at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, breaking Aries Merritt's 2012 world record and becoming the first athlete to set a world record at the NCAA championships in 50 years. His prior best was 13.01, and he advances to Friday's final aiming to become the first hurdler since Grant Holloway (2019) to win back-to-back NCAA titles.
