Buckeyes Duo Duel for NCAA Titles as Mendez Aims for Third, Davino Seeks First
Jesse Mendez (141) and Ben Davino (133) will wrestle for national titles at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Mendez, the No. 1 seed, seeks his third straight NCAA title and an undefeated season against Oklahoma State’s Sergio Vega after a semifinal win, while redshirt freshman Davino, the No. 2 seed, faces No. 1 seed Jax Forrest from OSU’s rival in the final after beating Marcus Blaze. A Mendez-Davino title pair would be the first OSU duo to win national crowns in the same season since 2015; Penn State leads the team race as finals begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Five Buckeyes earned All-American honors this year with Mendez and Davino joined by Brandon Cannon, Paddy Gallagher, and Carson Kharchla in various stages of the consolation bracket.
