China plans a Mach-26 asteroid deflection test using an impactor and an observing spacecraft to directly alter the trajectory of near-Earth asteroid 2015 XF261, potentially in 2029–2030, aiming to simulate a realistic planetary-defense scenario and advance capabilities beyond NASA’s DART.
