Upcoming Close Encounter: Large Asteroid to Pass by Earth at Half the Distance of the Moon
NASA Asteroid Watch has announced that a 140-310 feet asteroid named 2023 DZ2 will safely pass by Earth on Saturday, at a distance of at least 100,000 miles. This size of asteroid only passes by Earth once every decade, and astronomers are using this opportunity to learn more about it for future planetary defense.
