Ukraine's 'Griffin' Tactic: Air-Dropped Robots Hunt Russian Rear Areas
Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade has deployed a new tactic called 'Griffin,' which involves air-dropping armed ground robots from heavy drones up to 10 kilometers behind Russian lines. During Operation Vivaldi, these unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) targeted command posts, drone crews, and supply hubs, bypassing frontline defenses. The operation also relied heavily on robotics for logistics and casualty evacuation, with 80% of logistics and 90% of evacuations handled by UGVs. This approach allows Ukrainian forces to strike deep in enemy rear areas while minimizing human exposure to danger.
