"Free Access to ABBV-951 in England for Eligible Patients"
ABBV-951, Abbvie's continuous infusion formulation of levodopa/carbidopa for advanced Parkinson's disease, will now be accessible at low or no cost to eligible patients in England, according to the final recommendation by NICE. The therapy, sold under the brand name Produodopa, will be available for free or with a small copay. This marks the first time NICE has approved a treatment for Parkinson's. ABBV-951 has shown efficacy in reducing off episodes and improving motor symptoms in clinical trials. The therapy's approval in the U.S. is still pending. Parkinson's UK hopes for similar recommendations in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
