Nuclear-powered cargo ship concept earns ABS approval
ABS granted Approval in Principle for KRISO’s design of a 15,000 TEU container ship powered by two marine Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs), a civilian application of SMR technology. The dual-MS R setup links to an integrated energy storage system to balance power, places heavy shielding in the hull center to reduce stress, and enables long-range voyages with minimal refueling, with basic and detailed structural mapping planned next.
