HoloTC response forecasts success of oral vitamin B12 replenishment in a rural Indian cohort
In a Pune rural cohort, holoTC rise during a B12 absorption test predicted long-term responsiveness to 12 months of daily oral B12 (2 or 10 µg) with folic acid; higher baseline biomarker levels, stronger holoTC responses, larger B12 doses, and better adherence independently predicted improvements in B12 status (B12, homocysteine, and the combined B12 indicator), linking absorptive capacity to metabolic correction and explaining variability in replenishment success.
