Echinus Geyser in Norris Geyser Basin has reawakened in February 2026 after years of dormancy, with eruptions starting Feb 7 and continuing on Feb 9, 12, and 15, then roughly every 2–5 hours. Each eruption lasts about 2–3 minutes and reaches 6–10 meters (20–30 ft). Temperature sensors track the activity, and scientists note a pattern similar to late 2017, though it’s uncertain how long the renewed activity will last into summer.
