Ukraine's claim of killing Russian Black Sea Fleet commander, Admiral Viktor Solokov, in a strike on a Russian headquarters in Sevastopol is unconfirmed but, if true, would be a significant achievement. Retired US Navy Admiral James Stavridis praised Ukraine for eliminating a high-ranking Russian military leader, stating that the last time an admiral was killed in combat was during World War II.
