Court offers waiver or September retake after July 2026 NextGen bar exam disruption
The Washington Supreme Court issued an order following the July 2026 NextGen Bar Exam disruption, allowing first-time applicants who couldn’t take the exam to either take a September 2026 NextGen bar exam, or pursue admission by court order, with notice to the WSBA by August 14, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Those who completed the July exam with interruptions are not eligible for admission by order and may still sit for the February 2027 exam if results are not passing, without extra fees. Results for July and the special September administration will be released on October 9, with admissions by order taking effect then. Fees may be rolled over or refunded for eligible applicants, and a WSBA FAQs page provides additional guidance.
