Florida teen indicted as adult in stepsister's Carnival Horizon killing
A 16-year-old Florida stepbrother has been indicted as an adult for the fatal assault of his stepsister Anna Kepner aboard Carnival Horizon during a 2025 Caribbean voyage. The DOJ says she was sexually assaulted and killed; the death was ruled mechanical asphyxiation. He was initially charged as a juvenile, but a judge ordered transfer to adult court. He faces first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse charges, with a potential life sentence if convicted. The FBI is investigating and the case is being prosecuted in federal court; no court date has been set.
