Chris Affleck, Matriarch and Activist, Dies at 83 at Ben Affleck's Home
Chris Affleck, mother of Ben and Casey Affleck, died at age 83 on June 2 after a months-long battle with pancreatic cancer. The death certificate cites cardiopulmonary arrest as the immediate cause and notes she died while visiting Ben’s residence. Diagnosed in December 2025 with an expected six months to live, she had just watched her grandson Samuel graduate from middle school two days earlier. An educator and lifelong activist, she supported civil rights, anti-war efforts, Barack Obama’s campaign, and Palestinian water justice, and remained close with Garner and the family through the years.
