Utah prosecutors push death penalty as Charlie Kirk killing goes to trial
Prosecutors began presenting the case against 23-year-old Tyler Robinson for the killing of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, with DNA tying him to the weapon and an alleged confession in a roommate’s note. The hearing aims to determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial and whether the death penalty could be pursued if convicted. Kirk’s family attended the proceedings, and testimony from a former UVU police officer marked the opening of the five-day hearing.
