Chicago Overnight Violence: Six Shot, Three Killed, One Stabbed Citywide

Six people were shot and one stabbed overnight in separate Chicago incidents, leaving three dead. Incidents included a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hand; a woman stabbed to death in Albany Park; a 24-year-old man shot in Austin (in fair condition) and a 32-year-old man shot in the temple (died at the scene); a 29-year-old man shot in Little Village (died at the scene); and a 45-year-old man shot in East Garfield Park (listed in critical condition). A Back of the Yards victim was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead. Police provided no further details at this time.

Albany Park Shooting: Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder After SWAT Incident

Daniel Aguirre, 42, was charged with six felonies, including attempted murder, after he shot a 67-year-old woman and held a 14-year-old girl and a 42-year-old woman at gunpoint inside a residence on the 4600 block of North Springfield Avenue in Albany Park. A Chicago police SWAT officer responding to the scene was shot in the abdomen; authorities say the officer is expected to make a full recovery. Aguirre was arrested about two hours after the shooting and is due in detention court Wednesday.

CPD: Albany Park SWAT Shooting Leaves Officer Wounded, Suspect in Custody

A Chicago police SWAT officer was shot in the lower abdomen while responding to a domestic-related incident in Albany Park. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition, expected to make a full recovery. A woman inside the home was critically wounded; two other females were battered and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as officers negotiated and then breached the home. The suspect surrendered and is in custody; names have not been released as the investigation continues.
