DLSS 5 Leaks Show Brutal Performance Hit on RTX 30-Series Ampere GPUs
DLSS 5 surfaced in an early NBA 2K27 build and was patched onto RTX 30-series Ampere GPUs by modders, but the results are dire: an RTX 3070 laptop reportedly jumps render latency from ~29 ms to over 3,300 ms with Neural Rendering (under 1 FPS); an RTX 3080 drops from ~130 FPS to 4 FPS in Deep Rock Galactic; RTX 3050/3060 Ti cards reportedly hover near 1 FPS in several titles. By comparison, DLSS 5 on RTX 40-series performed much better in recent demos. The leak suggests Ampere lacks native FP8 support, which the DLSS 5 model relies on, explaining the sharp performance loss. Official DLSS 5 support is limited to RTX 50-series Blackwell GPUs, with no confirmed plans for RTX 40-series or older cards. Sources: RenoDX Discord, Flourek on X.
