Netflix to Adapt Paulsen's 'Hatchet' with Cianfrance
Netflix is developing a feature film adaptation of Gary Paulsen's 1987 young adult survival novel 'Hatchet,' with Derek Cianfrance set to write and direct. The project, produced by Andrew Mittman's 1.21 company, marks the first major screen adaptation since the 1990 TV movie and follows the streamer's recent success with survival thrillers like 'Apex' and 'Thrash.'
