Guardians Lose Angel Martínez to Left-Foot Fracture, IL
Cleveland placed outfielder Angel Martínez on the 10-day injured list with a nondisplaced fracture in his left foot after fouling a pitch. Petey Halpin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take his spot. Martínez had shown power and was a team-leading homers leader, but recently slumped; with José Ramírez sidelined by a hamate fracture, Cleveland’s outfield depth remains thin and could prompt an upgrade before the trade deadline.
