Apple tests auto-lock on snatch to deter iPhone theft
Apple is developing an iPhone security feature that would automatically lock the device if it detects it has been snatched, using signals from the accelerometer and proximity to a paired Apple Watch, and applying the same Stolen Device Protection rules (trusted Wi‑Fi and familiar locations). If confirmed, the system would lock the iPhone and limit access after a snatch, similar to Android’s Theft Detection Lock, with no public timeline yet.
