Regal’s Acuna Backs Paramount-Skydance Merger, Urges Stability for Theaters
Regal Cinemas CEO Eduardo Acuna issued a statement in support of Paramount-Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, saying the industry needs a thriving studio system and highlighting commitments including at least 30 theatrical films per year, a protected theatrical window (45 days for TVOD and 90 days for SVOD for three years), and a $30 billion annual investment in content. He argues a protracted antitrust trial would create uncertainty and distraction, and Regal’s backing, alongside AMC, positions Ellison favorably ahead of a high-stakes 2027 antitrust showdown while continuing to face lawsuits from state AGs.
