The Impact of Anxiety Sensitivity on Physical Activity and Phone Separation Anxiety
Individuals with higher anxiety sensitivity tend to engage in less physical activity, particularly when it comes to high-intensity exercises, according to a meta-analysis of 43 studies. Anxiety sensitivity, which refers to the fear of anxiety-related bodily sensations, was found to have a small but significant negative relationship with physical activity. The study suggests that fear-related sensations play a role in individuals' choices regarding physical activity, and that those with lower anxiety sensitivity may benefit more from the mental and physical benefits of exercise. However, the study's cross-sectional nature means that causality cannot be established, and further research is needed to explore the underlying mechanisms.
