Apple Opens Siri AI to Third-Party Developers via New 'App Skills' in iOS 27.3
Apple has expanded its Siri AI platform to allow third-party developers to create custom 'app skills,' enabling complex, multi-step actions across various applications. This update, part of the iOS 27.3 developer beta, removes previous restrictions that limited Siri to a narrow set of supported schemas. The new framework allows apps to teach Siri how to coordinate tasks, such as transferring data between apps or managing ride-sharing logistics, without users needing to explicitly name the app if it is active or in a Live Activity. Apple has also integrated these capabilities into its own native apps, including Mail, Maps, and Messages, enhancing contextual understanding and natural language processing.
