Arm soreness shadows Braves’ opener as Strider exits in Mets loss
The Atlanta Braves lost 7-5 to the New York Mets in the season opener as Spencer Strider left early with right-arm soreness after his velocity dropped, allowing seven runs in just over three innings. JR Ritchie delivered five shutout innings in relief to stabilize the bullpen, but Atlanta’s rally fell short. The defeat extends the Braves’ slide, and Martin Perez is slated to start next game against an unspecified Mets pitcher.
