The UK and Germany are planning to provide new air defense systems to Ukraine and are launching a '50-day drive' to arm Kyiv and pressure Putin into negotiations, amid ongoing conflict and international support efforts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said that Ukraine needs more time before launching its counter-offensive against Russia, as some promised armoured vehicles have yet to arrive. Ukrainian commanders have said Kyiv still lacks vital weapons needed for a large-scale campaign to succeed. Zelenskiy said Ukraine was not prepared to cede any land for “peace”. Recent territorial gains by Ukraine come amid expectations that Kyiv’s counter-offensive will take place against Russian positions in the occupied south and east of the country.
