NASA's DART Mission Causes Unforeseen Changes in Smashed Asteroid's Orbit
NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission, which successfully redirected an asteroid's trajectory by crashing into it with a spacecraft, has been declared a success. The mission, which collided with the target asteroid Dimorphos in September 2020, was announced as a success in October 2022 after researchers confirmed that the spacecraft had significantly altered the asteroid's path in space.
