Mission to Find Habitable Planets at Alpha Centauri.
The Telescope for Orbit Locus Interferometric Monitoring of our Astronomical Neighborhood (TOLIMAN) mission, backed by Breakthrough Initiatives, aims to search for potentially habitable exoplanets in the Alpha Centauri system using the Astrometry Method. The binary nature of the Alpha Centauri system makes detecting exoplanets challenging, but TOLIMAN will monitor the star's apparent position in the sky for signs of wobble. The University of Sydney has signed a contract with EnduroSat to provide a custom-built mini satellite as the delivery system. The mission will lay the groundwork for future missions to the Centauri system.
