Tyler Mahle will start for Atlanta as they try to tighten the NL East race against Philadelphia, which scratched Jesus Luzardo with shoulder soreness. The Phillies used five relievers in an 11-inning win Friday, so the Braves expect to jump on patchy innings and back Mahle with early run support, while Mahle continues to lean on a two-pitch mix to keep hitters off balance.
Drake Baldwin will lead off for Atlanta in a makeup game against the San Francisco Giants at Truist Park, with Bryce Elder on the mound. The Giants, fueled by Anthony Molina, aim to snap the Braves’ streak as five Giants hitters own strong numbers against Elder, who will be looked at for a turnaround. Mike Yastrzemski bats ninth for San Francisco, and Atlanta will head to Washington afterward, with the 6:05 p.m. ET first pitch.
Joey Bart makes his Atlanta debut catching and batting seventh for the Braves, while Michael Harris II returns to the lineup in the 4:10 p.m. EDT game at Truist Park against the Milwaukee Brewers, with Drake Baldwin DHing and Mauricio Dubón leading off.
