
Texas Sues Netflix Over Alleged Addictive Design and Data Surveillance
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act accusing Netflix of spying on Texans, including children, and collecting data without consent, alleging the platform is designed to be addictive via autoplay and that Netflix shares user data with advertisers and data brokers; the suit seeks to stop unlawful data collection, require autoplay be disabled by default on kids’ profiles, and impose civil penalties.
