Avalanche Studios Sees Unionization Surge Among Just Cause and Contraband Developers

Over 100 developers at Avalanche Studios Group, the studio behind the Just Cause franchise and upcoming game Contraband, have joined the Swedish trade union Unionen and are currently bargaining with management for a new contract. This marks the first time unions have gone to the bargaining table with Avalanche in its 20-year history. The negotiations may include discussions on a four-day work week and other employee interests. If a contract is agreed upon, it would be valid for two years. This move by Avalanche Studios follows a growing labor movement in the gaming industry, with other studios also engaging in collective bargaining.
