US Withdraws B-1 Bombers from UK Base After Suspected Iranian Drone Plot
The US Air Force abruptly withdrew all 12 B-1B bombers from RAF Fairford in the UK on Sunday, ending their role as a launchpad for strikes on Iran. The move followed a suspected Iranian plot to attack the base with drones, which UK police linked to recent arrests of suspects near the facility. While US officials cited security threats, UK authorities emphasized the investigation remains ongoing, and Iran denied involvement.
