Duplass Defends Kane Parsons as Backrooms Director Amid Online Doubts
Mark Duplass publicly pushed back at social-media rumors about Kane Parsons’s role in directing the horror film Backrooms, insisting Parsons was “100% in control” on set and more capable than many directors his age. Parsons, 20, is noted as the studio’s youngest feature director for the project, which adapts his YouTube series. The film, produced by A24 with a team including James Wan, Shawn Levy and Osgood Perkins, hits theaters Friday and expands on the series’ lore by focusing on a small cast in a lonely, labyrinthine world; Parsons revealed the production even built about 30,000 square feet of backrooms for the shoot.
