Douglas Confirms 1992 'Basic Instinct' Affair Was With Co-Star Jeanne Tripplehorn, Not Sharon Stone

In his new memoir, 'One Helluva Ride,' Michael Douglas confirms he had a romantic affair with co-star Jeanne Tripplehorn during the 1992 filming of 'Basic Instinct.' This revelation clarifies decades of public speculation that his relationship was with Sharon Stone, who played his love interest in the film. Douglas, now 82, admits he was deeply infatuated with Tripplehorn despite a nearly 20-year age gap and was prepared to leave his first wife, Diandra Luker, for her. The relationship lasted only through the production period, and the two eventually parted ways. Douglas notes that he chose not to end his marriage, recognizing it would be detrimental to him at the time. Tripplehorn, who played the detective's therapist in the movie, did not respond to requests for comment. This disclosure is part of a broader wave of revelations from Douglas's memoir, which also details his long-term affair with Kathleen Turner and his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones.
