A crew member on Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 suffered a severe hand injury after a saw accident at Sky Studios Elstree in the UK; multiple fingers were severed and could not be reattached after extensive surgery. The live-action production, directed by Dean Deblois, is ongoing with a June 11, 2027 release date. The incident has reignited safety concerns raised by UK crew unions Bectu and Pact, who say exhaustion, accidents and near-misses are linked to long or broken turnaround and impact workers’ safety and mental health.
