Israel Strikes Civilian Vehicle in Syria, Sparking Diplomatic Fractures
Israel conducted a drone strike on a civilian vehicle in Beit Jinn, southwest of Damascus, injuring at least one person. Syria condemned the attack as a violation of international law, while Israel claimed it targeted a terrorist preparing an immediate threat to its forces. This incident follows a recent Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase, which US envoy Tom Barrack suggested may have been intended to provoke Turkey ahead of Israeli elections. Damascus is pursuing de-escalation through US mediation, but tensions remain high as Israel expands its security operations in Syrian territory.
